Deep tissue massage is the use of slow, and progressively deeper, techniques to reach and realign the deeper layers of muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia (the connective tissue intertwined in all structures in the body).
The technique involves the use of fingertips, knuckles, thumbs, hands, and elbows.
This type of massage focuses on specific problem areas to assist injury rehabilitation, reduce chronic pain, tension and adhesion in order to restore normal function and movement. Through thorough assessment, the depth and quality of the techniques will vary for each patient.
